As many are aware that we have a DJ agency department for London nightclubs, bars, fashion show parties, private and corporate events. Our DJs are always sent out and end up running about through London’s busy hustle and bustle streets whilst lugging their heavy 15-20kg bags around to West end parties. We just thought we’d let you know what a good London DJ should carry in their DJ bags and another reason why they charge their hourly or night price rates (i.e the cost of their equipment they bring to the parties).
Mackbook & charger- recommended as DJ programmes these days are designed for using with Mac’s (it is more stable) – £1500 average
Serato / Traktor box – £400 (comes with timecode cds)
Timecode Control vinyl and Cds £30 vinyls
Stanton Uberstand (Foldable DJ Laptop stand) – £60
Professional DJ cartridge and stylus – such as Shure, Ortofon and stanton – £150
Professional microphone such as AKG and Shure – (clear no distortion for announcements) – £70
XLR lead for microphone or microphone flex for direct ontop of mixer connectivity (do not rely on venues for their leads or XLRs – bring your own)
Spare leads in case of failure – (XLR Mic and Cables – £30)
Optional Usb light for setting up incase venue does not have sufficient lighting in DJ booth to set up (and if no light on mobile phone) – £10
Seinheiser Headphones (Pioneer, AIAIAI, many models available – Dre Beats headphones are not good DJ headphones!). – £150
Business cards / promotional material for contact.
Novation dicer (not necessary for every DJ – but has become a popular DJ accessory) – £70
DJ Bag – £100
Total cost on average – £2570
Some DJs may carry aftershave / perfume, gum, phone recharger, spare t-shirt or whatever they need but this list is generally the contents (listed above) what a professional DJ carries. If you are starting out and having your first gig somewhere, remember – never rely on the venue to have spare leads, microphones or XLRs.
This bag is pretty much the normal contents of anyone of our DJs. You may notice there is no controller or devices that work for controllers, that is because our London DJs are professional disc jockeys and if they are asked to play at a gig they will use proper live mixing software and DJ themselves without the use of synch buttons on controllers.
