Candy performed by Cameo is one of the most popular requested and played songs at London nightclubs and bars. It has been a very popular song from the 80’s and many people know the particular routine dance moves and there are still many others that do not. The Candy original name “Electric Slide” is a dance that gets every party crowd united as one.
The Electric Slide originally performed by Marcia Griffiths‘ song titled “Electric Boogie” back 1976 created the four walled dance. It is an 18 dance step variation and there have been many versions on youtube that have been posted and have been removed. There are in fact numerous versions of the Electric slide which consisted of 16 and 24 steps but the original choreographer Richard Silver put them in place and kept it to the 18 steps he choreographed – too right!
As you may know we are a DJ agency, we have a strict gruelling policy on who we hire as one of our DJs, we have hundreds of applications every week and many of them we reply back and ask certain questions and we are always surprised that many London DJs claim they are adaptable to all types of parties. One of our questions is do you have Cameo songs and so many said they do not but have claimed to have rocked clubs of 500 in Greece, Ibiza and so on. If you are serious about DJiing in London private parties, commercial and RnB nightclubs it is a must you have this in your selection as a London DJ. We also suggest if you have this track with a mic, is to start it at the beginning and host who is to take the lead. Make an exception for the night with one track – this one and get away from the DJ booth and join the crowd to do the ELECTRIC SLIDE!
